This week kicked off the second week of Rudderville Track training for Sophie and her team. Track has always been her safe space and where she feels so much joy and confidence. She's always been the lone female in this group and right now especially she's feeling so alone and I hate it for her.  She came home from practice a bit bummed because her ex-boyfriend approached her in the parking lot stating that their mutual friends no longer wanted her to speak to them. All three of these boys are part of the track club that she's in. The same club that she and I created. It's a complicated situation but nonetheless one that she's in and she will have to continue to train and work with the same group of boys for the remainder of the school year. While she is guilty of breaking a boy's heart, she did what she felt she needed to do when she no longer had feelings for him and it was one of the toughest things I've sat along side her doing.
